Teszt indítása mostVascular health means how well the body's network of blood vessels — arteries, veins and tiny capillaries — is working. Healthy vessels are flexible, free of harmful blockages, and able to carry blood smoothly to every part of the body. They deliver oxygen and nutrients to organs, remove waste, and help regulate blood pressure and body temperature. When vessels narrow, stiffen or become inflamed, blood flow can be reduced or become turbulent, which causes problems elsewhere. Early signs that this system is not working well include high blood pressure, leg pain when walking, slow wound healing and unusual fatigue. Many things affect vascular condition: age, genetics, smoking, high cholesterol, diabetes, poor diet, lack of exercise and long-term inflammation. Maintaining good vessel function lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke and helps protect the brain, kidneys, eyes and limbs. Doctors check vessel health with simple measures like blood pressure and cholesterol tests and with imaging such as ultrasound or ankle–brachial index measurements. Improving vascular function often means lifestyle changes — quitting smoking, eating more vegetables and healthy fats, staying active and managing weight — and medicines when needed. Paying attention to blood vessel health is one of the most effective ways to stay well as you age and reduce the chance of sudden, serious events.
