рдЕрднреА рдЯреЗрд╕реНрдЯ рд╢реБрд░реВ рдХрд░реЗрдВNarrow-angle glaucoma is an eye condition where the front part of the eye has a very small angle between the iris and the cornea, which makes it hard for the eyeтАЩs internal fluid to drain properly. That fluid, called aqueous humor, normally leaves the eye through a drainage angle; if that passage is too tight, pressure inside the eye can rise quickly. A sudden rise in pressure can cause severe eye pain, headache, blurred vision, rainbow-colored halos around lights, nausea, and vomiting, and it is considered a medical emergency. Over time, repeated pressure spikes can damage the optic nerve, which carries visual information to the brain, and lead to permanent vision loss or blindness if not treated. People who are older, farsighted, have certain anatomical traits, or use medicines that dilate the pupil are more likely to develop this condition. Eye doctors diagnose it with a complete exam that includes measuring eye pressure and looking at the drainage angle with a special mirror or camera. Initial treatment may include medications to lower eye pressure, and many patients need a quick procedure or surgery to open the drainage area and prevent future attacks. One common preventive procedure creates a tiny opening in the iris so fluid can flow more easily and pressure stays stable. Regular eye exams are important because early detection and timely treatment protect the optic nerve and preserve vision, while delay can have serious, lasting consequences.
